Bethesda Plans Faster Game Releases
Bethesda Plans to Accelerate New Game Releases
Bethesda, known for its acclaimed RPG franchises such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls and the recent hit Starfield, is looking for ways to speed up the release of its new games. Despite growing popularity, especially after the release of the Fallout TV series, fans have faced long waits for new titles. Starfield, for example, faced several delays and took almost eight years in production before it was released in September last year.
So far, the only new game confirmed by Bethesda is The Elder Scrolls 6, which was announced in 2018 and is currently in the early stages of development. This is especially noteworthy because the previous title in the series, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, was released in 2011, more than two console generations ago. Meanwhile, Fallout fans received new content with Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, and the success of the Fallout TV series has increased interest in the post-apocalyptic franchise.
In a recent conversation on the Kinda Funny Games podcast, Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard discussed the long development time of the studio's projects, emphasizing the commitment to quality but acknowledging the desire to increase game production. Among the news, Howard revealed that Starfield's first DLC expansion will be released this fall and hinted at the possibility of more Fallout spin-offs, inspired by the success of the Amazon Prime Video series.
Howard admitted that he would like to speed up these projects, but recognizes that they take time. However, Bethesda is exploring ways to release more games in a shorter timeframe, which could be great news for gamers eager for more information about The Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5, the latter of which Howard confirmed two years ago. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the Starfield expansion this fall.
