Discover the Most Unusual to the Most Incredible Family Vacations!

"Memorable Trips and Vacations of the Modern Family"

Modern Family's endearing characters spend most of their time at home, but occasionally, whether for work or pleasure, the Dunphys, Tucker-Pritchetts and Delgado-Pritchetts venture beyond their four walls to explore new environments. The series follows the evolution of the extended family as their children grow up, exploring the relationships between parents and children, in-laws, cousins and siblings along the way.

During the 11 seasons, the close-knit family traveled to the Midwest, to the state of California itself and abroad. On each trip, the large family has learned something about itself and learned lessons from past mistakes. However, not all trips are the same. Some vacations end in disaster, but end pleasantly, while others are just stressful, making some Modern Family vacation episodes better than others.

## Vacation in Palm Springs, California

In the fourth season, the whole family traveled two hours to Palm Springs for a little getaway on New Year's Eve. Jay claimed that this particular hotel was the best of the best and he had fond memories of staying there in the past. However, when the group arrived, things were not as Jay remembered and no one was impressed. Each couple wanted to do something else rather than watch the ball drop on the dining table. Because of the disagreements and the rundown hotel, this getaway wasn't their best trip.

## Trip to Florida

For the Dunphy family, going to Florida was anything but a Modern Family vacation; they were there for Phil's mother's funeral. While the Dunphys were grieving, everyone else was happy to get out of California for a short while. Mitchell was excited to get off work and help Gloria at the courthouse in Florida. Cam enjoyed meeting old people who loved to gossip as much as he did. The children were happy to be outside, relaxing in the Florida sunshine.

## The mountains of California

In "White Christmas", Gloria wanted her family to have a white Christmas, so she planned a vacation getaway in the mountains. The whole clan made the trip, including Little Joe's "manny", Andy. Gloria warned everyone that it was going to be cold and snowy, but when they got there she realized that she had read the temperature in Celsius - it was the opposite of cold and snowy. This meant that the vacation wasn't exactly what everyone had expected, although the weather wasn't the only surprise.

## Disneyland, Anaheim, California

In the third season, the whole family heads to Disneyland for a day of fun. Alex and Haley are thrilled to have a handsome guest join them, Cam and Mitch are embarrassed to have Lily on a leash and Gloria tries to get Manny to act like a child as she walks around the park in high heels. The day was especially fun for Luke and Phil, who took as many walks as they could.

## New York City, New York

In "A Tale of Three Cities", the Dunphys are wrapping up a summer getaway in New York City. When Claire and Phil decide to take a trip back home, the Dunphy children secretly stay in New York for a while longer without their parents knowing. This episode was nice because it showed the brothers really getting along and enjoying their time on the East Coast. It's rare to see the three Dunphy children getting along on the show. While Alex and Haley tell a lot of stories together, Luke usually pairs up with Manny.

## Las Vegas, Nevada

In Season 5, all the adults went to Las Vegas for a weekend of fun, leaving the children out of this particular Modern Family vacation. As always, motives were twisted and innocent lies were told, which made this weekend getaway chaotic rather than fun. That chaos, however, is what makes the episode so entertaining for the audience. There's something great about seeing adults doing the same kind of antics that children would do.

## Jackson Hole, Wyoming

"Dude Ranch" made everyone travel to Wyoming for a Modern Family vacation, unlike the others. Instead of going to a popular town where shopping and eating come first, the whole family opted for a western experience in Jackson Hole. Cameron felt completely at home, surrounded by hills and horses, but everyone else was a little out of their depth.

## Paris, France

When Jay apparently received a major award for the cabinet industry, most of the family traveled to Paris to support him during the ceremony. Phil surprised Claire on the trip, Cam got the chance to be a street clown and Claire found an older lover. However, when Jay found out he didn't win the award, the trip took a turn for the worse.

## Maui, Hawaii

"Hawaii" was a fun episode for Modern Family because Gloria planned a surprise trip to Maui without Jay knowing. She invited the whole family and even paid for most of the tickets. When the family arrived, Phil tried to turn the vacation into an impromptu honeymoon for him and Claire, and Jay was shocked to realize how many years he was getting older. It was also in this episode that Haley got drunk for the first time, which strangely brought her and Claire closer together.

## Sydney, Australia

Traveling to Sydney, Australia, is a once-in-a-lifetime trip because of its distance from North America. The fact that everyone was able to make the trip was very special for Phil. It was because of his mother's passing that the family traveled to Sydney. Phil wanted to feel connected to his mother and planned an entire trip surrounded by family.

Modern Family is a comedy series that follows the unconventional Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family as they redefine what constitutes a family in the modern age. Divided into sub-families, the three diverse groups shake up the nuclear formula with empty nests, foster children, gender neutrality and more, while trying to navigate the various pitfalls and comic misadventures of their dysfunctional but warm family dynamic.
