PC version of Horizon Forbidden West receives third post-launch update

The PC version of Horizon Forbidden West has received its third post-launch update, bringing significant fixes and improvements.

Highlights of the Update:

Horizon Forbidden West update 1.2.48.0 was released on April 11. The new update modifies the behavior of the weapon wheel when used with mouse and keyboard, making each interaction more consistent. In addition, a series of bug fixes and performance improvements are also included.

Horizon Forbidden West update 1.2.48.0 is now available for download via Steam. This version further enhances the PC port of Horizon Forbidden West with significant quality of life improvements and bug fixes.

The PC version of Horizon Forbidden West arrived on Steam on March 21. The open-world action adventure was well received, with many gamers and critics considering it to be one of the best PlayStation ports to PC to date. Guerrilla Games and Nixxes Software began working on resolving the small problems found in the initial version of the game shortly after its release. Since then, the developers have released two updates focused mainly on bug fixes and performance optimization tweaks.

Update 1.2.48.0 follows this trend, but also brings welcome quality of life improvements. These changes are mainly focused on the user interface, with one of them adjusting the way Horizon Forbidden West's weapon wheel behaves when playing with mouse and keyboard. Now, the mouse pointer will always start in the center of the wheel whenever the menu is opened, allowing players to develop muscle memory for quick weapon changes.

Another change to the interface concerns Horizon Forbidden West's skill tree, which previously ignored the Hold Actions option in the Menu, causing players to accidentally learn skills when trying to view their information screens. This no longer happens after update 1.2.48.0. The update also fixes a bug that reset a clear key assignment to its default value every time the game was restarted. Reports on social media from players suggest that this particular problem was not present in the initial version of the game, but was caused by one of its subsequent updates.

Another fix mentioned in the new changelog addresses a bug that caused the Level and XP bar to be displayed incorrectly. Specifically, the filled part of the bar did not accurately reflect the player's current progress to the next level. The problem itself was not widespread, but many affected players said they were unable to get rid of it even after reinstalling the game.

The new Horizon Forbidden West update for PC also fixes some graphic artifacts that occurred when viewing the map, but only for users of the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series of GPUs. Other bug fixes and performance optimizations are also part of the package, including those designed to address crashes in some particularly intense scenes.
