New CinemaCon images from Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga reveal a deeper look at the titular character's backstory. Furiosa, which will feature several returning characters from Mad Max: Fury Road, is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on May 24, 2024. Chris Hemsworth will play a new character, Warlord Dementus, who will act as the main villain in the long-awaited Fury Road prequel, while Immortan Joe will be played by Lachy Hulme instead of the original Fury Road actor, Hugh Keays-Byrne.
Other Furiosa cast members include Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack, Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus, John Howard as The People Eater, Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic, Charlee Fraser as Mary Jo Bassa, Furiosa's mother, and Daniel Webber as War Boy. This new development provides answers to previous confusion about why Furiosa would be with Immortan Joe when they are both fighting Dementus in the first two trailers for Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga.
