She was a loyal hand of her master, so much so that she would hunt down and then manipulate Cade Skywalker under his orders. Darth Talon would eventually approach Cade and teach him the ways of the Sith, refusing to give up his devotion to the dark side, even after his betrayal.
Darth Talon could serve as the perfect breaking point for a New Jedi Order, just as she once served as a breaking point for Cade Skywalker. Both being Skywalkers, at least in name, Cade and Rey have been shown to veer towards the dark side. Both are also affiliated with the New Jedi Order, although Rey, it seems, plays a more instrumental role in building the order with closer ties than Cade had in Star Wars Legends.

There are a variety of different ways in which Darth Talon's story can be altered to suit Rey's New Jedi Order trilogy, while maintaining the essence of his original character. At his core, Darth Talon devoted himself to the dark side of the Force with little hope of redemption, as he believed strongly in his master's ideals. This could still be the case in the future trilogy, giving flesh to his character and how he came to his convictions.
As the focus of the films will probably be on Rey and her journey to rebuild the Jedi, Darth Talon could act as a contrast to his character, rebuilding the Sith from what little Darth Sidious left behind. Being on such a similar path to Rey, it would be interesting to see a Jedi and a Sith on equal footing, as Star Wars was previously about the Rebellion and the Resistance overcoming impossible odds to stop the forces of evil. It's not yet known whether Darth Talon will actually return, although his appearance paid homage to George Lucas' sequels.
