"All of Us Unknown: The Intimacy and Fantasy of Andrew Haigh"

All of Us Strangers, the new film by British director Andrew Haigh, is one of the best films of 2024 so far. Described by the filmmaker himself as his most personal project, the intimate and fantastic film starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal has touched our hearts with a story that not even Haigh ventures to classify into a genre, but which moves between fantasy and drama and is as much a love movie as a ghost story.

Haigh's new gem, which is an adaptation of the 1987 novel Strangers by Japanese writer and screenwriter Taichi Yamada, comes six years after his previous work, The Wild Road (2017), and becomes the third film in his filmography in which previous material has served as a catalyst for the director to tackle something that interested him. He had also done this in 2015, with what is undoubtedly his most recognized work: 45 Years, a film that was nominated for an Oscar and received unanimous critical acclaim.

It has a score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and, surprisingly, in Brazil it is only available for digital purchase on the Apple TV service.
